   يتم فى هذه العملية تصغير المعدة عن طريق عمل جيب علوي في أعلى المعدة في حجم اصبع الإبهام يقوم بعمل المعدة و فصله عن بقية المعدة بإستخدام دباسات حديثة جداً  مع توصيل الامعاء الدقيقة بالجيب و توصيل الامعاء مع الامعاء فنشعر بالشبع بعد تناول كمية قليلة من الطعام بالاضافة لذلك فإن  سرعة وصول الطعام الى الأمعاء يؤدي الى قلة امتصاص بعض السعرات الحرارية مع زيادة إفراز بعض الهرمونات التي تساعد على فقدان الوزن .
